Format The module sessions take place one day per fortnight, usually on a Thursday, with 17 days in total. The module normally runs April to December. Assessment Two 3000 word assignments. The first focuses on patient assessment including aetiology and pathophysiology. The second focuses on care management and the evidence for a clinical initiative. Title  Caption Peripheral Vascular Nursing (formerly ENB A85) at the Centre for Research and Implementation of Clinical Practice – Faculty of Health and Human Sciences, Thames Valley University, London Course information The course is designed for nurses who are currently working in either acute or community clinical settings with individuals at risk of developing vascular disorders or who have already done so. Course outline: The course is offered at academic Level 2 (diploma) - Peripheral Vascular Nursing – and at Level 3 (degree) – Advanced Peripheral Vascular Nursing - as a ‘stand-alone’ module leading to the award by Thames Valley University of a Certificate in Personal and Professional Development or as part of a pathway leading to a DipHE/BSc (Hons) in Professional Practice with Tissue Viability. At level 3 it can be taken as part of a programme leading to a BSc (Hons) in Professional Practice with Peripheral Vascular Nursing. The course will cover the following subject areas: anatomy and physiology of the vasculature and lymphatics venous disorders and their management arterial disease of the upper regions of the body, abdomen and lower limbs and their management micro vascular disease political, socio-cultural, economic and spiritual influences on peripheral vascular disease and its management ethical and professional issues relating to the care of people with peripheral vascular disease technology and its impact of the management of peripheral vascular disease Number of Credits - 40 Course structure: The course will consist of one study day a week for 18 weeks Assessment: The course has one theoretical assessment and one practice-based assessment: Theoretical Level 2: analysis of the treatment given to a patient with peripheral vascular disease Level 3: critically evaluate the treatment given to a patient with peripheral vascular disease.
